On October 24th 2008, that would mark the day that Gregory King’s (the father of Julian King) life would be changed forever. The mother and brother of actress and singer Jennifer Hudson were found shot to death in their home on the South Side of Chicago and the body of Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew Julian King was found in a parked white SUV on October 27, 2008.

Since then there has been plenty of press going out giving play by play accts from police reports and eye witnesses on the case. There were plenty of blogs giving their speculations, rumors, and a lot of innuendo that Julia Hudson may have had something to do with the case or was with holding information. During the press conference you saw people concerned about Jennifer Hudson’s well being as well as her sister’s, but what about the father of Julian King? You would think that with all the media that covered this case somebody would have taken the time out to speak to the father who was also close to the family. People need to remember that Gregory King and his whole family suffered and are still suffering the loss of his son.

Well we decided to reach out to Mr. King. When we asked him has he done any interviews with the press he said “not one media outlet reached out to him, since the mayhem and he was in no position at the time to speak to any press”. He also said that during that time he had a lot of media offering him 5 to 6 thousand dollars to get his story but he turned them down. He states “The death of my son is not for sale.” What you will find most interesting about this article is that there were a lot of things that were going on that were never mentioned in the main stream news about the case. Gregory King wants to break his silence and speak about how he has coped since the loss of his son. He put’s a lot of things in perspective. This is a Word On The Streets Magazine exclusive, in Gregory King’s own words…

Isis wisdom: Greetings Mr. King how are you doing?

Gregory King: I’m fine Ma’am how is you?

Isis wisdom: I’m well, so how have you been able to pick up the pieces in your life since the loss of your son?

Gregory King: Since the loss, basically I have just been taking it one day at a time. I mean there is really not much that I can do at this point. I have other children that I have to raise and I have to keep it together for them. (Pause) I mean it’s hard but I have to try and keep moving forward.

Isis Wisdom: How many children do you have?

Gregory King: I have 3 and then I adopted two other ones

Isis Wisdom: Have you had any contact with your ex or with Jennifer Hudson since the loss?

Gregory King: Yeah, I stayed in contact with Jenny since it happened and I was just with her in Florida back in November. I was down there with her and Julia for about two weeks, but I haven’t seen Jenny since November. Every now and then Julia will call me and we get up with each other and talk.

Isis Wisdom: Has she spoken to you in terms of the police investigation? Like how is the progress of that coming along? Like are you satisfied with the way the case is being handled so far? What is your opinion about that?

Gregory King: Well…(sigh) She (Julia) Hasn’t really said anything to me about the case to much. Like the other day I had to call her other brother to find out the status about the case. I mean as far as that go William is still fighting the case. I mean to me it seemed like he should have been charged already back when all that was going on.

Isis Wisdom: The general consensus is the streets don’t think he did that to your son. How do you feel about that?

Gregory King: Naw I think he did it. I mean me personally I think he did it. You know what I’m saying? For the simple fact that something seemed funny about him anyway!
I remember he brought my shortie to me one time right before the incident happened and he dropped my son off and my son up playing with my other son and William outside with me like me and him had been kicking it for years or something, like he just know me from back in the day. He outside talking like man (joe) let’s get a six pack, I let him get the six pack, I let him get it but at the same time something just seemed funny to me about him. Like he was out in front of the crib about business, and he kept making comments like “man I got my pistol up under the seat.”

“I got my gun under the seat”. Like he was trying to intimidate me or something. That’s what it seemed like to me. I mean I think he had something to do with it. I can’t sit up here and tell you yeah he did it all by himself. But what I can say is he most definitely had something to do with it.

Isis Wisdom: Do you think he was perpetrating a fraud? In other words you know how some guys try and act tough but deep down they are really scared?

Gregory King: Man all I know is he kept mentioning to me he had a gun, I don’t know what his thought process was, but it seemed like he was acting like I was supposed to be scared or something. Like that particular day he had mentioned something about him and Julia. He kept saying somebody better give me my 800.00, he kept talking about 800.00. Like Julia owed him 800.00 or something. I think he was talking about the dude he sold Julia’s car to, because William stole Julia’s car. Which was a 1996 Impala; he stole her car and had her thinking that somebody else stole it. All along he stole it and sold it for like 800.00.

So in my mind I’m like if he would steal from his wife, and then he over here telling me all of his business and I’m like look homie. I could care less about what you two got going on just keep my son out of it. He was like alright playa it’s all good. All the time I’m thinking why is this dude over here kicking it with me, so he definitely had something to do with it. I felt like he was trying to get a feel for my character or something. I’m thinking to myself dude I don’t rock with you like that. William is over here trying to kick it with me like we are ace boon coons or something.

Isis wisdom: So when did all this go down?

Gregory King: a week or two before the slayings. It was weird because all of a sudden I would be out on my block and dude would ride by and say what’s up out the window and I was tripping on that. We weren’t talking before now all of a sudden you want to talk?

Isis Wisdom: I know you said you don’t talk to Julia that much but as the father you have the right to contact the police yourself to find out what’s going on. Have you yourself reached out to the police?

Gregory King: I never received any numbers from any police, no detectives working on the case nothing. But like I said I had to call Julia’s other brother to find out the status of the case. Basically he was telling me it was looking good enough for him to be convicted. But at the same time William is fighting the case, he is going to trial to see if he can beat the case. All I know is the pistol that killed my son and Ms Hudson and Jason belonged to Jason’s brother, and his brother gave Jason the pistol. Jason had been holding on to the pistol and all of a sudden, the pistol came up missing. It had got stolen once before and they had found out that William stole it. But William ended up giving the gun back to Jason.

But then it got stolen again but that’s when he did what he did. There is just to much going on for me. When I had heard that he had stole her car and sold it for 800.00 I’m thinking damn what type of shit is that? Then he was stealing pistols up out the crib, money, drugs he was just stealing shit.

Isis Wisdom: He was stealing from the family?

Gregory King: Yeah basically, stealing stuff up out the crib! But all that stuff ended up coming out to the light with people saying “Man William did it, William did it”. That night when I found out my son came up kidnapped I went to the police station. They was looking for William but my whole thing was this: This is your wife if Julia is your wife why weren’t you at the police station trying to give her some comfort knowing she is frantic? You found out that two other family members got killed and your step son got kidnapped. You are supposed to be there for your wife through thick and thin regardless. William was no where to be found. William never showed his face at the police station. The police had to go out and find the man and bring him back to the station.

Then when they do get him, they asked him to do a polygraph test he refused. All of that makes me really know he had something to do with it.

Isis wisdom: There was talk on the news that William had other girlfriend’s one in particular stated that he told her he had committed the murders what is your take on that?

Gregory King: William would say hey man I got all these fine ass hoes chasing me but Julia was doing her thing and he was doing his thing. The problem was he could not handle it when Julia moved on to do her thing. Julia is the type of woman that if you do her wrong and she get’s tired of you, she will cut you off. She don’t come back and deal with the drama anymore. Even when I was with her and I was doing my thing when she got tired of me she cut me off. No sex or nothing. I mean we would speak and be cool but once she makes up her mind to move on there is nothing that anyone can do about it. I guess William couldn’t handle it.

Isis Wisdom: When you went down to spend time with Jennifer and Julia in Florida were they getting along ok? There were rumors circulating that Julia was at odds with her sister because she felt Jennifer was getting more attention then she was. Is there any truth to this?

Gregory King: Naw I never witnessed any of that. They got along fine the whole time I was around. They are pretty close.

Isis wisdom: Do you really think he was capable of hurting your son? He was the child’s step father. I didn’t say the adults but your son?

Gregory King: You know to be honest I didn’t get the impression that he would (Jdown) on my son. I mean when I told him to leave my son out of it he was like oh naw man it’s all good the kids don’t have anything to do with what I’m talking about. It really didn’t seem like it. I couldn’t really notice or tell at first. But some things I was hearing on the street there a few dudes I knew that was locked up with William. They told me that William like’s to see blood. I was like WTF??? These dudes know this dude; I’m wondering did they have anything to do with it. My man was telling me that those dudes didn’t have any thing to do with it they just knew him from when they were locked up together.

Isis Wisdom: Did you hear anything about Jennifer Hudson’s condo being kicked in, in Chicago?

Gregory King: No I never heard that, and if it did happen nobody told me anything and nobody ever made mention of it.

Isis Wisdom: Now where is William’s brother? I heard that he just quietly skipped town.

Gregory King: After the funeral I went down to the Trump towers where Jenny and the family were staying at and the feds was down there. They basically was telling us they went to William’s brothers crib to look for him but when they got there, there was no answer. My cousin who knows Williams brother said man cuz dude skipped town. My cousin asking me why all of a sudden did dude just up and skip town after all this happened? In the mean time dude called my cousin and told him, man I ain’t have nothing to do with that, but all the while I’m thinking I wouldn’t put it past him because that is Williams brother.

Isis Wisdom: It’s to my understanding that you are a rap artist is this true?

Gregory King: I have been a rapper since 2002. I even have a track with Jenny, she wanted Ludacris to be on the track. This was during the American Idol days. I was really surprised that she asked me to get on a track with her to be honest. But she never put the track out. The title of the song is called “Wrap it up”.

Isis Wisdom: Well I see that you are dealing with a label Block Hustle Music, which is ran by Universal recording artist Bossolo. With the way he is promoting you when can we expect to hear an album dropping?

Gregory King: Some time in 2009 I just need to get myself together first.
